Pros and celebs to descend on Carnoustie for the Dunhill

Many of the world’s leading golfers will partner some of the biggest names from entertainment and sport in this year’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship from October 5th-8th.

The event, in its 17th year, is one of the most prestigious tournaments on the European Tour and a celebration of links golf played over three magnificent courses – our very own Championship course, the Old Course at St Andrews and Kingsbarns.

Golfers already confirmed for this year’s competition are The Open record-breaker Branden Grace, Lee Westwood, four-time major winner Rory McIlroy and last year’s winner Tyrrell Hatton will be back to defend his title, while celebrities joining them include cricketer Kevin Pietersen and former Westlife member Brian McFadden.

Among the golfers who have graced the fairways are Masters champion Danny Willett, Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke and Major Championship winners such as Rory McIlroyMartin Kaymer, Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington and Louis Oosthuizen. Popular golfers like Luke Donald and Tommy Fleetwood have also appeared regularly.

In recent years they have been joined by showbiz stars Jamie Dornan, Andy Garcia, Ronan Keating, Greg Kinnear and Huey Lewis, plus sporting greats like Sir Steve Redgrave, Shane Warne and Jamie Redknapp.

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, established in 2001, is played over the Championship course from Thursday to Saturday with the Old Course taking centre stage on Sunday. Danny Willett, playing with his caddie Jonathan Smart, won last year’s Team Championship.
