Links House goes blue to mark World Parkinson’s Day

Carnoustie Golf Links marked World Parkinson’s Day on Thursday 11th April by turning Links House blue.

In addition to Links House turning blue, members of staff at the host of last year’s Open Championship also welcomed Billy Webster, Chairman of Parkinson’s UK Dundee and Angus Branch, to discuss his battle with the condition and to educate the team further about Parkinson’s.

As a world-leading organisation, Carnoustie Golf Links helped to raise awareness of Parkinson’s to a global audience by lighting up their world-class facility in support of Parkinson’s UK in Scotland’s ‘Light Up Scotland’ campaign.

Other high-profile organisations across Scotland joined the Links in turning their landmarks and buildings cyan blue – such as BT Murrayfield Stadium, Hampden Park and The Kelpies.

Parkinson’s is a serious and progressive neurological condition with more than 40 symptoms that affects people of all ages. Currently there is no cure.

Parkinson’s UK is the leading charity driving better care, treatments and quality of life for those with the condition. Its mission is to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s through cutting edge research, information, support and campaigning.

According to recent research from Parkinson’s UK, 8 in 10 people with Parkinson’s believe that awareness and understanding is low because people don’t consider it to be a serious condition – and only associate it with one symptom – a tremor.
