Links Championships provide golden opportunity for winners

Entries for this year’s Ladies and Gents Links Championship have gone live with the opportunity to compete in the R&A’s 9 hole Championship on offer for the respective winners.

As if winning either Championship wasn’t already enough of an incentive for Carnoustie Golf Links’ Season ticket Holders to sign up, the future Links Champions will also get the chance to represent Carnoustie in the R&A’s competition over the Championship Course on the final Saturday before The 147th Open Championship begins.

Season Ticket holders can enter the Links Championships via the Competitions section in the Season Ticket Holders’ area of the website, completing the entry form here or, alternatively, pick up a form from any one of the local clubs, the Professional Shop or the Burnside Starters Box.

The victorious Carnoustie pair will join 40 other men and women who will have secured their places through qualifying events run at golf clubs at which they are members.

The Final of the 9 Hole Championship will be held on Saturday 14 July and will be played over the first four and last five holes of the Championship Course.

The nine hole event is central to The R&A’s drive to promote this form of golf as an ideal way to enjoy playing the sport in less time, either recreationally or competitively for handicap purposes.

Competitors will adopt Ready Golf in the Final of the 9 Hole Championship, which can be used in stroke play and includes a number of actions to improve the flow of golfers around the course and speed up play.

Please note; there is a handicap limit of 28 for Ladies and 9 for Gents for anyone wishing to participate in the Links Championships.
