First played in 1893, the Ladies British Amateur Championship has visited Carnoustie twice and will be welcomed back in 2012.

Ann IrvinIn 1961 M Spearman won the first of two successive titles and in 1973 Ann Irvin denied Mickey Walker a hat-trick of wins.
