Tassie Entries 2012

January 11th, 2012

On Tuesday 10th January the Craws Nest Tassie filled in 10 minutes.  The official entry and waiting list is on the website together with the tee time for the practice round. This will be updated regularly as players withdraw from the tournament.

The draw has been done for the practice round and only those who have paid are included. Any requests with a mixture of those paid and those unpaid, the latter were not included. 98% of requests were for the Championship Course and using a random system we accommodated as many as we could however no doubt there will have been players left disappointed.

Key Dates and Information

January 4th, 2012

Wednesday 29th August-at the close of business no more partial refunds will be made. All those withdrawing from the Tassie after close of business on that day will not receive any refund and no more players will be replaced. This is a change from previous years when the final withdrawal date was the Friday before the tournament.

Sunday 2nd September-The official practice day. Following feedback from players and officials it has been decided to do away with the Official Welcome Reception as it was providing less and less value for the players. For any advance tournament information that is not included in this section please contact us on the email or phone number below.

Any questions please email colin@carnoustiegolflinks.co.uk or for the office administration call 01241 802277 during UK office hours.

It has been decided that the winners of both trophies will be given automatic entry into the following years tournament. This will apply to the holders and the 4 years prior to that providing the players still meet the entry criteria. All reasonable efforts will be made to contact these players before entry opens. This will begin for the 2012 event.

Distance Measuring Devices

December 7th, 2010

Following an annual review of the use of Distance Measuring Devices in the Tassie the Carnoustie Golf Links Management Committee have decided to allow the use of the permitted devices in the tournament from 2011 onwards.

The pre-drawn consolation rounds (Wednesday and Thursday) process has worked well and has proven largely popular.  It provided every player with a fair share of playing both courses. It is drawn by Club which means that travelling from the same club who do not qualify will play with or close to one another on the Wednesday and Thursday.

What we cannot account for are friends who wish to play together and are perhaps from Aberdeen GC and Woburn GC. Alphabetically you won’t be drawn together. For those who may be affected in that way it may be worth considering listing yourselves under the same golf club after playing in the qualifying rounds, not the initial entry process for the Tassie.

One other change to the consolation events is we are introducing these as Stableford events in an attempt to improve the pace of play which again is something we are trying to address.Ultimately however pace of play is a players responsibility.

If extra holes are required on either the Tassie or Maulesbank events then it is done on a hole by hole basis and if strokes apply in the Maulesbank then they should be accounted for as normal.

As an ongoing exercise we are continually looking to improve everything we can in the Tassie and we always value the feedback from you. Regards Colin McLeod, Golf Services Manager
