This is our Mixed Open event played on the Burnside Course in May each year. The RB Cant Challenge Cup was presented to Carnoustie Golf Links in January 1949 by RB Cant, a former local club captain and club champion to “promote a spirit of friendly rivalry and sportsmanship between amateur golfers of all nationalities and in particular to improve the standard of play in the Scottish midlands”  . The trophy was changed to the Mixed Open in 1957 and is awarded annually to the couple with the best scratch score on the day.

The MacDonald Smith Trophy was originally presented by MacDonald Smith, USA to Lochty Ladies Golf Club in 1929 then gifted to the Carnoustie Golf Course Committee on the 1st January 1959. This trophy is presented to the couple who have the best nett score on the day.
